When the War Starts

3pm: (if school is still in session) gather in the bookstore plaza to head
down Bay and along Mission st to join the community rally at the Clocktower.

5 p.m: meet at the Town Clocktower for a massive rally. Bring
drums and other musical instruments, signs, noisemakers for a march
through neighborhoods to the County Building at Ocean and Water. An
alternative is to gather at the plaza across the street (near Jamba Juice)
for a public prayer vigil. (If the bombing starts at night, gather at the
town clock to find out what actions are planned for that day. Then meet
at 5 p.m. to carry out our original plan.)

7 p.m.--5 minutes of silence at the County Building at Ocean and Water (or
wherever you are), followed by a rally.

8 p.m.-- mass nonviolence training behind the Shell Station in the parking
lot at the County Building. Affinity groups will form and make plans to
participate in nonviolent direct action.

7 p.m. to 8 a.m.camp out overnight in the parking lot at the County
Building, with dialogue, music, poetry, prayer, and sleep as people join
together to support each other and to plan nonviolent direct action to stop
the war.

THE DAY *AFTER* WAR STARTS:

8 a.m. Rally and nonviolent direct action to
shut down the Military Recruiting Offices at 41st and Clares in
Capitola. (Other Santa Cruz affinity groups will be going to San
Francisco early that day, others to Vandenberg AFB.)

9 a.m. Beginning on the day AFTER, the Resource Center for Nonviolence
will be open round the clock for the first three days as a place for
meeting, training, planning, media.

The Latin America Solidarity Coalition (LASC), has initiated a Call to Action for the Mobilization against the Military and Economic Intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean from April-10-15, 2003 in Washington, DC.

The April Mobilization will include a massive protest rally on Sunday, April 13, followed by a march to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) buildings, where their annual spring meetings are taking place. We are coordinating with movements throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to make this an International Day of Action. The Mobilization will also include the Latin America Solidarity Conference III with direct action trainings, educational workshops and strategy sessions, a lobby day to close the School of the Americas, street theatre, film screenings and more.
