Part Four: My Life in Post-COVID China

Happy New Year 2021 from Shanghai, China! Middle of my China medical solidarity fact-finding trip.

I return to China at late August when the country was fully recovered from the pandemic, life back to normal at post-COVID era; at the same time U.S. second COVID waves ravaging across the country. Since September the number of people infected in U.S. every single day is more then entire year on China!

I supposed to stay in China for a short 2-months trip for fact-finding exploration, but the out-of-control pandemic surge across U.S. (the so-called 3rd waves) since November, California becomes the new epic center of the disaster, and it made me hesitate for coming back before the holidays.

Extra-long stay helped me achieved an excellent opportunity to understand how China successfully fight the virus in first-hand eye-witness record, with how people feels their country and the U.S.

I spend good amounts of time to visit museums, attend meetings, meet many people, read many books and newspapers, in order to produce vlongs and blogs about my stories in China..

I thought due to the COVID restrictions, it might be very few Chinese meetings/conventions like the rest of the World; but with my surprise, beginning of August, Chinese robust economy recovery with high public confidence, the large-scale business conventions and events are happening every day across China.

China has clearly back to normal after successfully contain the COVID-19 within 3 months at early April, 2020; restaurants and business has opened the door again with full customers, domestic Chinese tourists are travel across the country; major events such as conventions and conferences are opening daily.

1

I witnessed the major economic achievement across the country; with people’s positive feeling that China is going to the right direction (above: the exhibition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Shanghai Pudong district development—30 years ago it was still a sleepy farmland, and now become the third largest financial center in the World).

I have medical-IT background, so spend most of my time meeting with Chinese medical experts, attend medical convention, and speak at medical MeetUp events (below), to build China-U.S. bi-national medical solidarity to fight against COVID-19.

4

Everywhere talk about “China’s Speed”, the ultra-speed to build and run its world biggest high-speed network, its call the Chinese political system advantages of “concentrating everyone efforts on focus to achieve a big thing.”

6

It’s the collective interest--the new Chinese genreation, motivate everyone successfully fight the COVID within short time, and achieve economic miracle within short time.

Part of China's poverty alleviation campaign, wealthy regions will assign specific poor regions to support, such as: education, employments, capital investment and basic inflector. In addition, organize trade fair to promote their products at the big city (VIDEO)

http://www.immigrantsolidarity.org/China/2020/Videos/ShanghaiFarmProductsFairToSupportChinesePoorAreas.mp4

It's a unique Chinese government poverty alleviation program to assign wealth regions/cites to support disadvantage regions; from sending teachers/engineers/doctors, help to build schools/hospitals/roads, to commit to purchase their products.

Shanghai has assigned to support their poor regions on Yunan, Xingjian, Qinghai and Guizhou providences.
The program also innovatively using e-commerce for poverty alleviation. This fair aim to help thier farm products connect to e-commerce business to sell thru on major e-commerce platform such as Taobao, Wechat and very popular PingDuoDuo cloud e-commerce site to sell discounted poor area products with government financial supports. Chinese government using e-commerce site to help the poor region with financial aides to help them sell their local products, it works very well.

I frequently using PingDuoDuo to order produces, such as: apples, it’s cheaper (free shipping) and support Chinese poor regions to improve their lives.
